Once in a while you just have a great finish
to a bad day.

Talked to V on the phone tonight, thats always a blast,
afterwards I gave the Lightning a nice waxing,
then my new Babe showed up looking awesome,
straight from the beach (sorry no pictures, maybe next time), hahahaha (and yes she's younger than me, ahhhhhhhhhh)

So anyway, I take the L out @ 9 for a nice cruise up and down the main road. I pull off my block and immediatly see this Beeeeeeeeeautiful 69 Camaro Convertible . So I get behind it and follow it down the hill 5 or 6 blocks up to the main road. I mean this thing is the real deal, the complete package. From it's amazing blue paint, down to the mint interior, awesome look, great sounding exhaust, and show room mint condition. Immediatly you can see AND HEAR this is a Street Rod and not a factory restored Camaro. This thing has got a gorilla cam and the most sweetest sound to it. Great looking rims and tires, a very well done exhaust system that was singing so fine and OMG the cam in this thing. I have owned over a dozen Chevelles, a few were screaming small blocks, and believe me I know the sound of a big *** solid cam, THIS WAS THAT CAM AND MORE. As we hit stop sign after stop sign together going down the hill I was so flashing back to my early yrs listening to that cam, hearing him go through the gears , the exhuast sound, and that oh so familiar smell coming out the back pipes.

So here we go, he makes the left and I'm right behind him, it's like sun down about now, temp showed 73 on my L and the road is nice and empty as we FINALLY hit a red light side by side.
As I look over and our eyes meet, I immeditly realize this guy knows what time it is, I'm thinking to myself GOT DAM it's about time I got me a good street race. For what ever reason (ok maybe it was the eaton) I already knew I was gonna dust him so I actually turned the music up a little, lit a butt, and waited. When the light turned green IT WAS HAMMER TIME
I didn't even WOT, (I knew it would just roast the F-1's) instead I did my one two punch, (@ 1/4 throttle hard and fast, then WOT)
ALL I CAN SAY IS I ABSOLUTELY DUSTED THIS GUY, I MEAN BIG TIME. I just took off and kept pulling and pulling and pulling. And here he is power shifting, bringing that bad boy up to screaming RPM's, and I'm just walking away listening to music smoking a butt

Ah it doesn't get much better than nights like this...........

Ya that's one I'll remember, beautiful ride

It's amazing how I use to have all these cars myself and
for back then running 13's + 14's was awesome.
But I also immediatley thought back to the weekend maintence
of my screaming small blocks. Adjusting the solid rockers while it was running (NOT PRETTY), tunning up the dual point Manely Distributer, tightening header gaskets, burning up starters, fouling plugs due to the cam, overheating, etc....

And now a smooth idling truck can blow it's doors off

 

LMAO......yeah Rob, when I think of the good ole days, maybe they weren't that good after all. The sad part is the kids now a days, don't know how lucky they are
