Track Times w/intercooler not functional -vs- functional
I had a few posts here regarding truck problems. I was running some pretty bad times for the L and I couldn't figure out why. Well, the intercooler wasn't working from the day I drove it off the lot, I just didn't know it. Now I have some track times I can share to show the effects of an intercooler not working. This is probably nothing new to you Veteran L brothers and sisters but maybe this can help any newbies troubleshooting problems with their L's.
This is what I ran consistantly with the intercooler not working
San Antonio Raceway
Temp was about 87 degrees w/about 60% humidity
60 ft. times - 2.6
1/4 mile ET - 15.33 @ 92.25 mph
This is what I ran consistantly with the intercooler working
San Antonio Raceway
According to the WBGT instrument (which is very accurate) I took to the track with me the temp was 86 degrees w/78% humidity
60 ft. times - 2.21
1/4 mile ET - 14.47 @ 96.46
I'm a little disappointed with the times and mph. But the good thing is I know it's the driver and not the truck and I can do something about that. Plus it was pretty hot and muggy and I was hot lapping. Anyway, I thought some of you might find it interesting in how much difference the intercooler makes.
Edit: By the way, the intercooler pump wasn't working because a pin on the electrical connection was pushed up into the plastic connector. The problem was hidden so well that none of the diagnostic checks showed a problem. It took the dealer a full day to find the problem.

your corrected times seem about right for a stock L in San Antonio in the summer. I ran a 14.60 when my truck was new in june '99. Wait for the fall and put about 3K miles on it and you should be doing 13.8 or better. (that's about a 13.0 or 13.2 in New Jersey
)
)
