If the light is blinking that means there is a problem, you need to take your truck to someone that can read the code to see whats going on, im no transmission pro either, all I know for sure is that if the light is flashing there is a problem.

Your not giving us much info ???

What Yr Lightning ?
Does it have a Chip ?
Does it have an aftermarket V/B ?
Any signs of transmission trouble before this happen ?

If you have a Chip, you may wanna pull it,
disconnect the Battery for 5 minutes,
Then re-connect the Battery and see if it cleared the Code
or helped the problem

Good luck
Keep us informed

the truck is a 2000 with 49,000 miles on it.
Mods-- Mass Air, chip, and cold air of my own design..
the truck will shift out of first but I have to make it and the O/D light has stopped blinking but it still does no shift right...
I am going to hook it up on a computer and maybe that will tell me more.

If yall can give me some more info that would be great and I will let you know what I find out..

Thanks

P.S. I took the chip out and rest the computer when it started doing this but it did not help..

screwed up MAF or chip can cause this kind of thing...

Before you do anything get it scanned and see what codes it has. If the OD light was flashing then it is gonna have trouble codes. Let us know what the codes are. Could be a bad solenoid pack or something in the main valve body or the accumulator body(what everyone calls the "valve body"). Get it scanned then report back. -Mat-
