BELIEVE ME YOU WANNA CHANGE YOUR PLUGS hslightnin

Especially if you DONT want them to launch.
I'd say the statistics are 95 to 100 % of the time they launch,
it's because the factory plugs were loose AND YOU DIDN'T CHECK THEM

Easy wayto get statistics is to use the search

THe plug issue has been covered dozens if not hundreds of times

I recently changed the plugs in my 2000L for the first time (50,000 miles). Two of the factory plugs were loose....one of them so loose it melted the rubber boot on the bottom of the coil pack....

My 01' L had no mods, no plug changes, and only 29,000 miles on it when it blew the 3rd plug back on the passenger side. Started making a ticking noise that sounded like a small exhaust manifold leak (the noise wasn't coming from on top where you'd expect it to). My SVT mechanic didn't know what it was either until it launched. Now I've got a new head.

Since then I've learned that the heads are made with very little thread material for the plugs. Only about 4-6 threads. Since its an aluminum head I guess Ford didn't tighten them very tight at the factory, hence wide spread plug ejections. The word is that there is a newer head with beefier thread area. My SVT service dept tells me that my new head is one of them, but I don't trust them and don't know how to tell if it is. Even if it is, what about the driver's side head???????
