Question Street Slicks

Has anyone tested street legal slicks and had a great experience with traction - leading to a recommendation?

My L is a weekend ride, with the new KB traction is a definite challenge. Looking to hook up with the road.

I've driven a few hundred miles on my hoosier 28x11.5x16 dot's. They work better on the street than the nitto drag radials if you race from a stop. If you plan on doing some sustained 100+mph driving go with the drag radials. They do hook much better than regular radials.

Are the 28 inch tall MT ET Streets out yet? I've seen them in magazines and catalogs but have not seen any Lightnings run them yet. I believe they are now almost identical in sizes to the QTPs....

Yes Cyntaxx, they are out and I have a set that I tried out for the first time last weekend. ( i have them on 8" wide steel wheels)
Remember, this is the first time I had them on and I lost over .15 in my 60 foot compared to the Hoosier 28x10x16's I was previously running. The tracks preperation was suspect, but they did not feel like they were spinning on launch.
I normally run 12.39 to 12.55 at this track, and the best I could muster was a dismal 12.82. However, my mile per hour was also down so it may not have been the ET's.
I normally show up with a 1/4 tank of fuel, and I had over a 1/2 tank that night. I did not see them spray any VHT down, and I did not do an exceptionally long burn out as I normally do.
I did change my plugs the next day, and have not been back to the track since. But the truck seems to pull harder now with the new plugs, and the rebooting of the computer.
I will let you know if my 60' improves next week.
This tire has a 8.7" contact patch, and is 88" in circumferance which is the same as the Hoosier 28x10x16 in the circumference dimension. I like them because they do not stick out beyond the fender and do not splatter as much rubber on the truck.
I really believe they will eventually hook as good as the Hoosiers.

Dan, I tried my buddys set of drag radials and it was like pissing on myself, just didnt do much good.....I run 305/55/18 nitto extreme forces out back, they are 3.2 inches taller which gives me about a 3.50 gear on the street...This helps out quite a bit with my launches and by the time traction is given to me by the gods, Im moving along hooking pretty good.......

Thanks for the advice everyone, promod. Do you know what you are putting down at the rear regarding hp and torque? And just to clarify are the "extremes" the 555's ?

Thanks! Dan

He has the 404's as I do, but I run 305-40-20's. They had pretty good traction when new, but the compound seems to get harder as they wear. Now I have a little better than half the tread and cant get tractionj in first or second. I'm putting 555r's in the back and 555's in the front on my factory powdercoated wheels today hopefully. If the powdercoater is done today I will mount them and let you guys know how much better I hook on the street over the weekend.

Eric
