you have to take off the fan shroud, then take off the grill frame that surrounds the grill and head lights. The grill itself is attached from the back side to the grill surround.

I did this on my '99 too... The bottom grill is a piece of cake. The top grille takes some time. You need to remove the headlights, and parking lights by pulling up on the rods that hold them in. Take off the black plastic piece at the very front of your engine bay - closest to you. You will need a Phillips screw driver to remove the plastic screws. I foget exactly how that whole colored surround piece sets in there, but I know that you need to pull out the christmas tree studs on the bottom on either side... these hold on some sort of splash guard. Take your time with these as it could be easy to scratch the paint. Once it's out, carefully pry one by one the tabs that hold the grille in. Careful with pressure as these could snap. The new one pops in place the exact same way, and then you put it back together.
Here's how it came out:

yes, thats the shroud. You might as well replace those BS screw/plug things Ford installed to hold it down. I bought some smooth black ones from autozone. They are much easier to remove than the "screw" type it comes with. If you are going to replace them then just use some pliars and rip them out...otherwise you will spend a half hour trying to unscrew them.

Once its off, take out the screws that run along the top of the "grill surround" ...ther are 2 more screws behind each of the corner lamps as well. (so take the lamps out all the way) Then you have to get the weather seal off the bottom of the gril surround. Youll see what I mean when you get that far, there are a bunch of plastic plugs that hold the rubber to the grill surround. Its easy once you do it. Once all the above is done, grip the grill surround evenly and yank the sucker off. Some metal clips may/may not fall off, you need them to put it back on.

ps. The head lamps dont need to be removed.

93cobra: Thats your old truck? That girl is a member of a certain taboo Florida club. I havent met her in person but she lives in my general area. She has e-mailed me about going to meets/the track and such.

Yes, that's my old truck. She came all the way up here to get it too. What I thought was funny was that her boyfriend purchased a Saleen Mustang up here a year before... not too far from my house. They must like Ohio cars...

Josh,
Sounds like you received the grills today? Are they exactly what you expected?

Did you get the badge overlay as well? Let me know. I haven't heard a word from you or the guy I sent them to.

Thanks,
~K

No such thing. You're about as young as they get, aren't you?
