Question Sound Deadening and air extractors?

I seem to remember a thread many moons ago about plugging some air extractors in the back of the cab ?? However, I couldnt find extractor in the search and air is one character short of searchable

In any case, does anyone know what I'm talking about?

You must remove the interior panels behind your seat to see them. Once the panels are removed, you will see one behind each seat. If you cover them up, you will kill a lot of road noise. However, they are needed in case your airbags deploy. If they are totally sealed and your bags deploy, then you can say bye bye to your ear drums. I only sealed the passenger side one.

You can see them from the outside between the cab and bed.

If you plug them both up your cabin fan will work overtime and be somewhat overloaded, greatly reducing hvac effiniency. I tried it and when the fan was on I could hear it laboring until I cracked a window open. Its also alot harder to close the doors. Its best to only plug one. The passenger side lets in exhaust noise, the driver side lets in alot of road noise. I found thet blocking only the driver side was the best compromise, or another approach if you want to block both then keep your rear slider opened a bit. The road noise from it is not as loud as the road noise from the vent. Anyways thats been my experience.
