Oh flub, no help in wrong forum
Oh flub, no help in wrong forum
As usual I still cannot import a thread from another forum to this one but anyway if someone can help I would appreciate it.
I posted on the "Other Aftermarket Forum" a thread about problems with my new MAF body and K&N open conical filter combo I recently installed on my 92 TC. Got like 60 hits on the thread but no help
Maybe some of my L buddies can help out even if Moby is now long gone. Thread was entitled "What have I done now?"

No, my young brother, TC as in Town Car.
Having had amongst other things a 96 Taurus SHO, the 99 Lightning, two Continental wifemobiles and now my 02 Blackwood I am now reverting to my real age of 63.5 and wanting to rod my Mom's 92 Town Car that I inherited about 2 years ago. I was ever so good for two years but now the Dark Force is taking me over and I just cannot resist it.
As my Lightning brethren (once an L owner always an L owner) are the best in the business, I thought to ask for help on this forum.

4.6 SOHC dual exhaust 210 hp stock.
Basically the Crown Vic/Mustang GT/Marauder motor.
As I read it, same family as the 5.4 Modular Motor just a little smaller.
Modifications and situations should be same as for 5.4 but as I mentioned on the other thread, CrownVic.Net folk have a whole 'nother view on what you have do if you change to a free flow/larger housing MAF than what I have read here on the Lightning forum/threads.

Well the Marauder is a DOHC motor but you are right, it is very similar to the Crown Vic/Mustang/Thunderbird motors.
You can always build it up and throw a Vortech on it. Then you can source parts from Mark VIIIs since they have stronger trannies. Dunno about the computer though...
Also, PI heads from the 99+ Mustangs may also prove to be a great "bang for the buck" mod.

Bill,
2 things that came to mind when you mentioned TC:
Chrysler's TC by Maserati - forgetable car but memorable effort (see www.chryslertcbymaseraticlub.com); and
Thompson Contender, a very cool and acurate pistol/rifle (see www.tcarms.com/contpistol).
Both of which would probably fit in the trunk of a Town Car.

Bill: Guess you should have kept your crate engine. That would have made the Town Car really move.

Steve help me out
Steve:
Please post a link from the Aftermarket/Other Aftermarket area that I posted on where I asked "What have I done now?".
My buddies here on the L forum are having a lot of fun with me and my reference to my TC, Read TOWN CAR, and I am enjoying the roast but I still would like to get an f150online opinion regarding my questions on the Aftermarket forum.
As to the other postings, my bad on the Marauder mill, I did know it is a DOHC but it is still of the 4.6 family. I may someday go the route of some type of SC mill but am starting out on a budget.
There are more than a few days that I wish I had kept the crate motor I got in late 99, especially at the price of the day but that one is long gone. I have also read a lot about the various Cobra upgrades but as I posted on some thread somewhere, the Cobra is all about horsepower and the TOWN CAR needs torque more than it needs raw horsepower.
Might well be that I should look at picking up a used Marauder or Aviator 4.6 DOHC if I could get it cheap enough. They are rated at I think 302 hp for starters and I would imagine it should be a bolt in affair. I could then progress from there.
But...........today's problem is budget related and I still would like to know if I have a problem with running just a slightly larger MAF housing and a K&N open filter without resorting to a chip or a specially calibrated MAF sensor.
While I am here, let me once again give rave notices to the DOHC 5.4 as found in the Gator and the Blackwood. That would be a killer motor in a Lightning with a supercharger. I am really pleased with the power I make with minor mods.

TC and Mod Motors
Good one, Bob! Haven't thought about Top Cat in a long time.
Bill, You're definately right about your 32-valve 5.4 being a real tiger with a blower. I believe this is the basic combo in the '05 Lightning concept and it makes 500 stock hp in this guise.
