Question MTX Thunderform ???

I am looking to see where I can get the best price on an UNLOADED MTX Thunderform. I want to take the 2 JL Audio 10w3's out of my custom box and put them into the MTX box. That way I will be able to take it in and out easier and save some weight at the same time. So if anyone knows of a place that has good prices on the unloaded version I would appreciate the info, Thanks,
Bill

I've seen them on eBay or in the classifieds (here and NLOC) for about 100 unloaded.

As far as saving weight, you might want to look into something "removable" for when you got to the track. This would be something custom of course.

Why not just one super high end 10" in a small enclosure ?
Thats what i am going to next.
I tried the wall of subs and it was a drag man.

What are you going to do with your custom box? I have an unloaded thunderform box that I'm not using, because I have been looking into getting a customized box for my jl's.

Does the MTX thunderform sound that bad? I see you had in in your truck in your photo gallery.
If you want I will trade you even for your thunderform for my custom box.
Let me know,
Bill

I had both the custom box and the thunderform (I now have the thunderform) and I can truly say the the custom box blows the thunderform with sound quality, but the thunderform is truly cleaner.
I have even blown a JL W3 with the thunderform, but never did with the custom box.
Bottom line, what's more important, performance sound or cleaner look, believe it or not, I choose the cleaner look.

Good points. You hit the nail on the head. The Thunderform is a good compromise for a vehicle that you want to have good sound in, but it will never be able to compete with a custom box that is designed for your specific woofer. It's all a matter of preference, the best sound, or convenience and cost. Sometimes you can get all three, but usually a compromise will have to be made somewhere.

Even trade sounds good. I just have to get you a bag of that polyfill (spelling??) that goes inside of the thunderform box. I thought it sounded better without the fill that's why I removed it. The box doesnt sound bad, I just like the sound out of a custom enclosure. Let me know. My e-mail address is light0513@hotmail.com

When I get home from work today I will take some pictures of the box and send them to you. The last thing I want is for someone to not be happy with a deal on one of these message boards. It has happend to a few people and it is a hard thing to forget sometimes. I really think you will like it though, it does sound great, a few people here have heard it and can give their opinions on it.
I will e-mail you tonight,
Bill
