Whenever you feel the truck is not satisfying your speed needs and you think a sports car would be faster...take a spin on your bike...the should cure up your need for speed real quick...

 

If the 05' M5 is really what there saying its goin to be the L is gone 0-60 3.9 v-10 500 hp

 

it's not just a need for speed. my truck is faster than a stock ls1 and the 03 cobra. it isnt that. my buddy today with the 03 cobra went 13.1, with the roush went 13.2 and my other friend with the ss 13.0 two weeks ago and the ws6 guy goes 13.40... all those times I can beat in my truck. My truck is plenty fast. It's just that there isnt anything else I can do to it that wouldn't break it. I feel i've done a lot with the truck. i took it from 13.8 to 12.60. The truck feels great now. On a cool day if I ever ran it at the track with the new mods sense the 12.60 It'd pry go 12.30-12.40 with my new slicks and new mods. So it's not just about going fast.
I want something different. But im afraid I will get rid of the L, get something different and want the L back later... thanks Shane

Shane, man im in a very similar situation...
I love my L, love how it will smoke anything else around (or at least most everything)...but the gas mileage KILLS me! Im looking around for something in the 30k range that is quick, and gets decent gas mileage. I was looking at the 01 M3's, but they're too damn expensive...the 99-98 ones are nice though, was considering one of those and using the extra money to make it quicker...I dont really know man but im kinda confused, just like you!

 

I see your point but for what Shane is saying I would definetly go with the z06, even a used one (01+). I've gone through that stage and am still slightly considering getting the vette only because my brother-in-law is begging to take over my L's payments and title. Bang for the buck wise you can't go wrong with the z06, just look at how they can hang or beat 03 snakes stock As opposed to the M3, which is usually more expensive and slower than the z06. Of course both cars get their share of looks!! Just my opinion

 

Some days I wish I would have bought a Lightning. Just trying to help you keep things in perspective.

 

Our L's are unique and turn heads and NO one ever expects to loose to one at the stop light. But when they do you know they have to be thinking as they are loosing;
"NO,no,nooooo, Geeez, What just happened, I mashed the pedal and this screeaming truck just left me here?"

Then they go home get on the internet and try to find out what that screaming truck was.

Our trucks are unique. Most people don't even know what they are. A 6 speed is something I crave too but for me it's not worth giving up a truck that is rarely seen,turns heads everywhere you go and can and does kick some seriouse car butt

I have both a sports car and my Lightning.
I like the Lightning alot more than I like the Z28. The Z28 is fast as hell and fun to drive, but I just like the Lightning better.

 

The lightning is my daily driver. The vette is my toy It's hard to compare the two, as they are so different. The vette is a lot faster. It has a 415cid stroker motor pushing 600hp.

Was that Rod Baker you went to? I'm suprised they offered 21,400 for a 00. That's a pretty good price. Hell maybe I should see how much they will give me for mine j/k I also was talking to the wife about this same thing. I wasn't sure what I wanted but I did entertain the thought of getting somethng else. Then I realized how usefull the truck is. I have been doing a lot of work on my house this summer and I must have made 15 trips to home depot and loading up the truck. I thought how the 2x6x12's would have looked hanging out of a sports car and decided to keep the truck. I like the utility as well as the speed. I guess my point is with the truck you have the best of both worlds
