You know it should be really easy to identify these cranks, I can't imagine someone who has had an engine apart not knowing whether the crank is cast or forged. Surely the forged crank is a twisted forging just like the cobra crank is and just like aftermarket cranks are other than the really high end ones. So, a twisted forging will have the parting line going down the center of the throws, all 4 of them, since the crank is actually a flat 180 degree crank when forged, the throws are then twisted into position while the metal is still hot enough to be in an elastic state, making the parting lines 90 degrees apart. I'd take a picture of a cobra crank showing this, but I'm currently out of the country. Obviously this isn't the case with a cast crank, you'll have a narrow parting line straight down both sides of the crank, still in the middle of 2 of the throws but in the counterweights of the others.
