is it my chip or my plugs???

ok, im at this party on friday and everybody is wanting a ride in the lightning, so i tell them ok.

well, i take off hard, and everything seems to be working right, but then i get to 120mph, and then it just stops, like the engine has no more power... 120mph and 5K RPM and not shifting into 4th....

i shut it down, and im thinking it was my chip, then i do it again to see if it repeats the problem, well it did but it only got up to about 95mph this time until it did it..

could it be the plugs? because i only have them gapped at .040 because i put them in before i had the 4lb pully, what do you guys think?

How recently have you changed your fuel filter? I have heard reccomendations of changing it with every third oil change. So in the vicinity of 10,000 miles.

That was the problem with my truck, when I had symptoms like you describe.

Good Luck

my overdrive was on.

the fuel filter gets changed about every 5K miles, i just changed it about 2K miles ago....

i think it's one of the plugs, when sitting at idle my idle jumps around alittle bit, im pretty sure it's misfiring.

Check for:

Incorrect timing(chip?)

Faulty or incorrectly gapped plugs

Dirty air filter

Faulty ign. coils

Auto trans fluid level incorrect, causing slippage

EGR not functioning properly

Vacuum leak(s)

Dirty injectors

Binding brakes

I'd say plug or coil pack.
