Need help on launching with Nitto Drags

I bought a set of Drag radial because changing into slick at the track can be a real pain (Especially when it rains and they shut the lights at the track!!!)

I can't get the tires to bite!!!

The best I got was 12.72 with a 1.90 60, my MPH was 108.5. I know the MPH is better than a 12.7 and my 60 sucks.

I'm hitting the water box and heating them up, I varie my launching from idle to 1100 RPM. I varie my TP from 20 psi to 16 psi. Same results. I hit the gas, she bites for about 1/2 second and then lets go, wheel hop on some occasion. I have the lower metcos so I can adjust the preload. I have it set dead on with no preload at this time. I hear of guys running in the mid 1.7's with the tires, so what can be the problem? I had a freaky 110 MPH at one time (Nice cool down) I'm getting long tubes within a week or so and then the converter, so I hope I can have the traction problem solved before I put these 2 mods otherwise I'm going to have to buy some race slicks.

I have seen others pull 1.70's with these tires. However, I had a set and the best I could do was 1.90. I tried everything I could think of to get them to hook. Nothing worked for me.
I am making 628 ft. lbs. of torque, by no means a big number compared to many on this board, and I thought maybe that was hurting me, but I gave up on that idea, and the Nittos and went back to slicks.

I ran a 1.77 once but mostley in the mid 1.80's, 22 pounds, heat em' real good, launch at about 900-1000, on a good track you should get those numbers with simple bolt-ons.

I had bought the Nitto's and had a similar disapointing experience. I ran 2.0 with the F1's and my best was 1.9 with the Nitto's. They were inconsistant and I had to drive it out of the hole. I got a set of the Hoosier QTP 28x14.5x16 and get consistant 1.78's and can nail out of the hole with very minimal wheel spin if any after a good burn out. Plus the Nitto's suck on the street. When cold they are not as good as the F1's in my opinion and are lousy in the rain and with the soft sidewalls make the truck feel loose in the turns. A wasted $500 in my opinion. Some tracks have better traction than others so you need to compare stock #'s. The people who get 1.7's with the Nittos probably get 1.8 or 1.9 with the f1's.

I also ran a 1.77 60ft with them, that was my first time at the track with them. Ever since then Ive had real bad 60s 2.0-2.2. It all depends on track prep.
