HELP??? truck got a problem???

I just got done cleaning her all up for tomorrows meet and she has to be the bitch that she is and give me **** now

I came across a rotted gromet for the air sensor just after the air filter. I had to take the gromet out before getting sucked into the TB so i now have that sensor just taped in. But now the truck wont shift out of first gear. manual shifting works ... SES light is on and trucks RPMs start to runaway to almost 2200 if in park??

Any ideas????
Thanks

I assume the sensor you speak of is the air intake temp semsor ? The 1st thing I suggest is backtracking to things you did, easiest is remove all that tape and see if the problem goes away. the truck should idle fine if you just let that sensor hang. (Im using this example for testing purposes only) You say you cleaned her up, Did you use high pressure water ? Any chance some chemical (Armoral)got on that sensor or another sensor ?

i did clean w/spray nine but no high pressure just a hose very lightly, did most of it w/a rag. The sensor was in during the spraying process. i saw the gromet was split and rotted so i removed the adapter from the mass air meter to get the other piece of the gromet from inside before the tb sucked it up.

idle is normal now, but the truck still sounds a little choppy. now would that sensor have anything to do w/the trans shifting through the gears???
Thanks
