Attn Lightningtuner/Sal

I see youve started the latest Biatch and gripe session with the cast crank comment. I was just curious if you have torn your motor down, Where did the crank snap ? Was it cast ? When I was working at the dealer we had a 02 Lightning with 1000 miles spin a bearing. When I went to order the crank, parts listed 2 different numbers for the 02 Lightning. At that point I only assumed that 1 was forged and the other was cast. What have you found ?

Coldie brought up the suggestion that the "cast" crank might be a "Sinter forged crank"......any insight Buzzz?

Cyntaxx, Im still checking but I called 2 different dealers, (Both SVT) and got part numbers for Reg 5.4 and Lightning. The part number was the same for both. I clearly remember having 2 different part numbers, hopefully next week I will go by my old dealer and dig a little. It appears that Sal is correct on this issue. Im still curious to hear where his broke, and what he found about his crank. Since I trade or sell my vehicles every 2-3 yrs this doesnt concern me much, even if I keep it past that I will never wanna make that much power on this truck. It not my cup of tea, I Cobra maybe but not this truck. I can honestly say that high 11s, low 12s is my stopping point.
