Roll Pan / Spare Tire Question

OK.... unless I drill a dayum HOLE in
my new rollpan, I can't get the tire
to crank down. Am I doomed to riding
around with the spare in the bed?

How did you guys address this?

TIA
Cliff

My Lund roll pan came with a hole. I don't ride around with a spare tire. I have never got a flat tire before, ever in my life on the road. I don't carry a spare unless I'm going a long ways maybe 600+mile trips.

Well I think the hole would really look bad in the Sir Michaels.

Must get creative, I guess ... a Rube Goldberg contraption
would be appropriate .... LOL

Driver drops cheese on floor ...
Mouse chases Cheese ...
Cat in wheel chases mouse and
wheel lowers spare tire ...

The old "form over function" issue ....Look good or serve a purpose ?

I keep my Hoosiers QTPs in the bed at all times as my spares , So I already addressed that issue.

Good Luck.

They don't do you any good in the bed at that point.

possible scenario,

ZO6 revs at you. You roll down your window and ask him if he'll wait a few moments until you can pull over to a safe location, jack up your truck, remove wheels and tires, install the DOT's, check tire pressure, and do a quick burnout.

Yeah, sure that's going to happen.

How about drilling a hole and covering it up with one of those stainless hole plugs you can get from a hardware store? If painted the same color as the bumper, it might be acceptable to your eye.

I used a pair to cover up the side cover holes on my bike:

Barely visible from most angles:

Sure, ZO6 owners call AAA when they go to the drag strip to have them install their drag radials...

The other 99% of ZO6 owners never let the car leave the garage and Zaino the thing 2-3 times/week.

It's crude and ugly, but here's what I did. I cut down the plastic tube and an old tire iron. Then, welded a socket on the end of the tire iron. Works great and just keep it in the truck.

There's a pic of it in this thread
