Went to the track yesterday. We're back in business...

I made it out to the track last night. There wasnt many people there at all. I found out when I got there the next night (today) they have a slick night. So that cuts down on traffic on test and tune on tuesday's. Or i can now go to "Slick night" to cause I am 13.99 or lower I think and run on slicks...
But anyway I went out with a buddy in his 2000L with the kb. I made 5 passes and my times were consistant. My best was 12.70 and I am very happy with that. The weather was 85 degrees and my 60 foot times are still 1.85 on et streets. Im not spinning and the track is prepped great. Not sure if that's the best I can do on 26x16x11.5 et's....
Back to the times. My trap speed is back up to 106.96 almost 107!
my 60 foots are below 1.90-2.0 (like in the past)
I made more than 2 runs (like last week)
To topp off the night... i'm in line next to this new Viper and I looked over once and said nice car. Cause I do have respect for the people who have the money for the cars. I just don't give them credit for running the times they do. (That make sence?) Anyone can go out and buy an 11 second car....
So we are staging and our windows are down and I go, "nice car" and he shuts the lid on his helmet and rolls the window up like he didnt even want to talk to me or he didnt hear me or something I don't know... So i figure he is a stuck up guy with a $80,000 viper and thinks my truck isnt worthy I dont know...
But we race and I kill him outa the whole and he never catches up! ever! He had like a 2.2 60 foot time but a 112mph so he is making power.... But I am real happy to have beaten a viper. Thanks again for everyone's help getting me back on track. Shane

HAHAHHAAA showed him. Hmmm, so maybe it just wasnt dynoed properly, cause if the numbers on that last dyno were correct, i dont think you would run those times. Good kill.

thanks for the compliments. It's been my dream sence I was a kid to beat a viper. I never really liked them. But I knew they were FAST. First I got my truck and wanted to beat a stock vette. Then the 03 cobra. Everytime I'd raise the bar... Then keeping up with a Viper became more and more realistic after each mod... Last night I know that Viper ran a bad time (13.20). But my truck wasn't at it's best and either was the Viper so I'll give him that. I was just happy to beat him when i did. It meant a lot to me. Thanks, Shane

The mother of all kills the Viper. Poor old guy probably never new what hit him. Maybe he should spend a little of that extra cash on some driving lessons.

Oh and Shane just imagine the look on his face if you had the juice and sprayed him???

Thumbs up

Awsome Shane! And a viper too...

Your timeslips looks identical to the majority of mine except for your 1/8 mile speed. I generally run 84.xx when hot lapped and 85.xx when it's had a good 45 minute cooldown. I wonder if it has to do with you running 26" vs my 26.5" ET streets?

What rpms did you launch at during that run? Any tire slip at all? Or does it just stick?

thank you.... I left at idle the first time with the slicks, 900-1000 the 2nd time and 900 on my last run... And my best run was when I launched at idle (1.86 60 foot I think...) ... Why is that if the track hooks and I was said to not have spun at all? Something with the computer and flashing it if you leave above idle? I was looking for more tips on launching with these puppies... Or do I need a stall to leave any higher than 1000rpms? thanks, Shane

i run on F1's and leave at 1200-1400 rpms. i have been cutting 1.9's consistantly.

i would think that with ET streets, you could rev to 1400 and then mash on it when you see that last yellow. those tires hook pretty good. you should be able to leave faster then that.
