How does our intercooler work?

Is it boost activated heat activated or what I have see it running when I poped the hood to check my Trans fluid level(after my FTVB install) I drove it for a couple miles to get it good and hot and noticed it running.Just wanted to know this set up is alot different than my 97 Miata M45 SC setup I had.The Miata did not have any need to bleed off any boost which was my understanding for a prethrottled SC but the Lightning is a whole different world.
TIA,
jeff

It's been posted that about 40f it kicks on... That reading is not coming from outside temp because 20 & 30 deg winter morning, it would eventually kick on.... sooner than I thought it would. It does run most of the time.

The intercooler has a 'radiator' of sorts placed 'after' the supercharger. The fluid is then pumped through the 'heat exchanger' which is located behind the lower grill.

Potential upgrades. Fans mounted on the heat exchanger. Replaced the heat exchanger with aftermarket (vendors JDM, JLP) heat exchanger that is bigger and exposes more fluid to the air at one time.
hope this helps.

Man that's some good info.I think the fan mod would be a good mod to do lots of times there is just no air going throught the intercooler. If it does come on at 40 deg F then it is on most of the time here in South Ga.
