22s degrade performance of L?

I heard that 22's will degrade the performance of the L. Are we talking about ET times, boost, reactions...Any one have 22s on their L? Any thoughts?

Yes, 22's will decrease performance. ET's. Boost won't be affected and neither will reaction times.

The rear gearing depends upon the tire.
295/30/22 tires(28.97 inches)
stock(28.45 inches)
285/30/22(28.73 inches)
295/25/22(27.81 inches)

If I do add the 22s, I plan on switching the gears to 3.73s or 4.10s...i have 3.55 now

Do you think it is worth it to get the 22's with the gears? what kind of mpg will you get with the 4.10s...right now I get about 15/20 in my 99 L

22's and 4:10's here...great combo in my opinion.

If you're worried about gas mileage -why the heck did you buy a Lightning in the first place??

22's are heavier then stock, they will also increase unsprung weight which not a good thing to do for performance.

Everyday driving you'll be fine and probably won't care about the performance decrease, but don't expect to even come close making any of your track bests with 22's.

i have 20s and i ran a sec. slower at the track. plus they are heavy as hell!!! (i hate switching them on race day!) i had 3.55 and with the 20s the gear ratio went down to 3.45. when i switched my gears, i had JDM set my chip for 20" wheels w/ 3.73s. so when i place my stock wheels on my truck on raceday... the gear ratio goes from 3.73 to 3.83.

this might help you

My 22's with Nitto 285/35/22 shed over 100lbs total compared to the stock 20" wheels.

.....talking about a Harley btw, not an L. Now way are the stock L 18's as heavey as the stock HD's though.
