avg paintjob cost?

Im looking into getting my truck painted sonic blue with maybe some flames and i was quoted around 3000 for it. Is that a good or bad price? Will it be done right for that much?

If the price includes the complete color change (door jambs etc.), flames striped and buried in clear, I would say that's a heck of a deal. It's not uncommon to pay $3000.00 on up just for a repaint. Definitely check out previous jobs and credentials, but there are some good young painters out there doing some amazing things that will do it for less just to establish a name for themselves. Good luck and definitely post some pics when it's done.

I have had a number of vehicles painted. $3000 sounds reasonable, if you are getting a top notch job. I have paid as high as $5000 for show quality and been quoted as high as $9000, but that is representative of a different league of paint job, a show winner guarranted.

There was a link, on the flame aspect just a week ago, but Vinnie is the expert.

Good Luck!

A really good flame job should approach $3000. I would be very suspicious of a paint and Flame at that price.

Paint job

I had a late 60's mustang fastback sprayed in factory black and paid 6600.00 but got a fantastic job, listen to the above posts, check out there rep, photos of past jobs, ask around at car shows. Talented people don't usally work cheap, they don't have too. Good luck, Todd

I was just quoted $1200 to fix a small dent, paint the fenders and hood, then do a boss stripe(like Lightning Bob) and clear coat the new paint. This is from a NLOC member who owns a body shop, and is giving me the Lightning special price.

I agree......
I always was told a paintjob itself is more money than that...... especially a full color change......

I'd say $3000 would get you an average paint job. Should be close to factory quality or better which is not saying a lot. If that's a full color change or consists of much flaming at all then that's a very cheap paint job.

I was qouted $800-2000 to paint a crowl hood, two fenders and fix two very very small dents. The two lowball estimates were special friend type deals. Which they do good but not top nothc work. I'm thinking about learning to do my own prep and body work then have someone just shoot the paint. I've done it on other trucks and they turned out OK.

$3,000 would barely cover the labor just to disassemble the truck and tape it up, not to mention materials and then the flame job.

I would ask to see pictures of previous $3,000 jobs and call a few of there past custom paint customers.
