First Race!
First Race!
I have been driving the L for about 7 months now with no challenges that amount to anything. I am driving to work this morning and I pull up to a stop light about 2 blocks from where I work. A black Z28 pulls up beside me in the other lane and stops. Since I am 2 blocks from work, and it's 7:30 in the morning, I pay him no attention.
The light turns green, and this guy nails it! I'm sitting there like a dumba$$ while he is pulling me by about 4-5 car lengths. So I nail it and immediately start to slowly reel him in.
Anyway, we caught up to traffic pretty quicky. I was about at his back bumper when he let out of it and he waved and I turned into where I work.
After 7 months with no real challenges I finally get one and I am not ready! I felt so stupid. What a let down. Oh well, it was still fun. Maybe next time I will be paying attention.

I feel your pain.
St. Louis is pretty dry when it comes to any quick stop light to stop light races... and when I have opportunity, I'm driving my wife's Grand Cherokee
...although, I did get to spank some Civic rice-boy in it
...he never knew what hit him when that big 'ol 6 cyl Jeep walked him

A similiar thing happened to me one early morning about a month ago. A chevy s10 pulls beside me at a stop light with a lawn mower in the back. It had larger tires and was a little rough looking so I didn't pay any attention. But.....
When the light turned green he nailed it and squeeled em' pretty good. He is a truck length ahead of me when I think "CRAP he's seriouse" I nailed mine and passed him easily. After several truck lengths I let off and at the next light I looked over and waved, he didn't acknowledge me at all.

I just can't believe I wasn't paying attention. I guess after 7 months with no challengers I am just getting used to not racing anyone. It sucks! Before I bought my truck I thought that when I got it everyone would want to try to beat it, but that is just not the case. I guess the L's are getting enough of a reputation that people know better. Next time though I will be ready.

1. Those that don't know anything about the truck and wouldn't even think to race "some big, slow Ford truck". I think about half the rice population falls into this category, since if it doesn't have a big wing on the back or neon windshield washer lights then it isn't fast, right?
2. Those who know what the truck can do, and don't want to get embarrassed.
