8 grand? Buy about 100 shares of DNA...

Then go straight to a Works or KB, 12 inch filter, plugs, shift kit, and chip or reflash. Save the rest for a built block.

Start off with filter, shift kit, chip, plugs, and pulley if you are going the mild route. You can always sell the pulley if you step up to an aftermarket blower and not lose too much $$$. And I'm sure if you bought from the same vendor they'd be willing to do a free reburn for ya if you are buying a 3-4k blower from them.

Congrats on the check..................... Now take a minute to do some research, like I did.

The basics, ram air, single blade, traction bars, drive shaft safety loop, rear drop shackles (notice I am not dropping any names). Then get serious, drop the eaton, get a KB or a works - your choice (I am a KB guy, it's proven), chip and pulleys - push it to 14 - 16 lbs of presure - get a conservative burn and you don't have to build a lower. A Greg Evans valve body is a must. Watch your fuel and consider a water/alcohol injection system. Don't forget the plugs, I use Denso IT 22's depends on what you are doing with your driving.

Then you can watch everything in your rear mirror, vette's, vipers. etc.

The bottom line is, everyone, including myself has an opinion, you need to figure out what you want to do!

Here's what I would do if it were my money:
Ram Air Kit
DiabloSport Chip
Traction Bars
Driveshaft Loop
KB Blower

You now have an 11 second Lightning the cheapest and most efficient way possible!

That's great advice by the way and I wish I had taken it back when my truck was still stock and I had some money to play with.

Don't forget slicks and plugs.

Well an aftermarket blower is *always on* so you always have that performance on hand, while the bottle route only nets you power when you squeeze....

By the way, if you had taken my advice you would have a little bit more money today....

If you have 8K in your pocket ready to spend on your truck, I HOPE you already own your own home. If not maybe you should re think your investment.

Its always nice to mod your truck, but having your own home will pay dividends for a long time. But its your money, spend it like you want. Good luck

But chip/filter/pulley has been the proven way to make these trucks run. Give one of our suporting vendors a call and discuss what your goals are, if you want to mod your truck

Looking at his profile, he isnt even 20yrs old. I doubt a home is even on his mind. At 20 I was a student paying my own School, rent, vehicle ect.., My own home was the last thing I could afford. Now at 32, life is much easier with the exection of 18 when all I worked for was party money and lived at home.

BTW I see everybody recommending a chip, I thought the reflash was better
