Modified AIR BOX Question???

I cut 2 big holes in my stock air box. Do I need to take the air snorkel out or leave the it in. I'm talking about the 1 that goes to the air box to the fender.

Why would you take it off? It's the only supply of cool air you have.

I would leave the snorkle or boot in even though it is a pain to install. I would also put hose in the holes you drilled and run them to air that is not under the hood, the wheel wheel is what I did. With a K&N filter in the stock box this is the fastest setup that I have run at the drags. I also have a 12" cone air cleaner. It looks good and makes nice noise, but my truck is up to 2 tenths slower on a hot day at the drags. I have made lots of modifications to the 12" air cleaner box trying to keep the warm air out. My conclusion is cooler air is better than less restriction. Until something better comes along I am sticking with the stock box with K&N filter and 3" hose running to the wheel well.

Pumphead, where did you buy your 12" cone filter to fit our setup, just wondering?
