Boost = brake problem

a while ago I read a post about someone with a KB having brake problems...

Got me a thinkin'

The Brake Booster works off of vacuum.
when the S'C is boosting you have no vacuum.
therefore the brakes don't work well at all.

don't belive me, go from a stand still to full throttle (boost) then slam on the brakes. there will be a pause then the brakes will lock on.

Then i thought of this.
That is EXACTLY why a lihghting does a great brake torque burn out.
when the S/C is boosting the brakes aren't working near optimum at all. Therefore just enough brake is applied to the rear wheels to get them spinning.

I'm not saying the brakes are "stronger" that 500 lbs or torque.
I'm saying the rear brakes don't go up in smoke becuase no matter how hard you push that brake pedal the supercharger is sapping all the vacuum from the booster.

SO this is good and bad.
and whoever it was who was looking for a vacuum canister, might be on to something.

Think about it, if road racing (on a course) you will want a vacuum canister so that your brakes are at optimum braking and the boosster has vacuum to operate the brakes. coming up to a turn at full throttle, right on the edge, to go into full braking, it will take a second to have the booster assist in the braking. If you are on the edge, you can't afford that.

I'm surprised the New Mustang Cobra with teh S/C doesn't have a vacuum canister or some type of system like that.

OK these are my thoughts. feel free to tear them apart now..
I figure I owe you that much for reading this long rant.

There is a check valve in the vacuum system, as it enters the booster. Sounds like yours is bad, allowing boost into the brakes.
