Four Weeks Waiting on a Reburn and What do I Get???
Not mentioning any vendor names here but I sent my chip in for a reburn as it was running lean (12.7 across the board from about 4300-5700 rpm). I also included four pages of printouts from the dyno with power, torque and A/F's...figured too much info is better than not enough. I did mention that my truck wasn't a daily driver so there was no huge hurry to get my chip back - I'll shoulder two weeks of the blame there. So, I get my package upon my return from a business trip and what do I get...a new chip (I could tell it wasn't my old one as the old one had a mark on it) with the EXACT SAME FUGGIN' BURN THAT I HAD BEFORE! That's right...four weeks and I essentially get the exact same thing back that ran lean in the first place. I wonder how this one might work in my truck... Needless to say, a rather pissed off phone call will be placed tomorrow morning...what are the odds that I can get a new chip sent out prior to my returning the old one (I bet it's somewhere between slim and none and slim just left town)? Un-fuggin'-believable!
I hate you had any problems! Hey dude have you tried to talk to the head man/ woman at your tuner? This is not a slam but there must be a good reason for the switch. I have talked to many of the vendores here and they have all done what they said and they have all bent over backwards for me and my team.
Please don't take this as a slam just my 2 cents.

Suavy,
I haven't spoken to them yet but I plan to tomorrow. I realize that going straight to them is the way to get resolution but I am so pissed right now that I can't see straight. After three weeks of harrassing phone calls asking where my chip was you think that maybe they would have sent the correct one. And each time I called I heard, "Oh yeah, you're the one who sent in all of the dyno graphs and stuff." Can't imagine that what I wanted was somehow confused with someone else's stuff. Mostly just venting so as to avoid kicking the dogs or something...

eatoncharged,
12.7 not lean??? Surely you jest my good man!
I would have been perfectly happy to see 12.0's across the board but going from a 13.2 at 3400 rpm to 12.7's after that seems a tad lean to me. I've got a chip with a fabulous burn on it that you'll love for sale!

Having spoken to them I thought that my requests were pretty clear...keep everything the same but fatten up the tune to give me 11.7's to 12.0's at a maximum. Unless I had partial amnesia, never do I recall saying, "You know what...I was wrong and the previous tune was the shyte. Hang on to that chip for a few weeks and then send it right back out to me." I guess the true test is in how the situation is handled from this point forward. All I would like is a new chip with the correct burn be sent out to me via FedEx next day delivery on their dime since it was their screw up and I'll have the other chip sent back out to them using their FedEx number. Don't figure I should have to pay for shipping three times, since I've already paid for it twice (once to them, once back to me and ultimately sending the incorrect one back to them). Don't figure that's terribly unreasonable. But what will most likely happen, is this: "Tuner X is...
a) Working on a customer's truck and not able to come to the phone right now.
b) Just left for a race in Podunk and won't be back for another 10 days.
c) Perfectly willing to take care of you and then I don't hear anything for another for weeks (despite continued harrassing phone calls).
d) Some combination of the above.

MaxTorque02,
Point taken and agreed. However, as it turns out the correct answer is indeed b) so it'll be a while before I can even find out how this is going to be handled.

Struck,
Did you dyno this new burn, or are you assuming by the program "label" that the burn is still the same as when it left your hands a month ago?
My last experience with my chip guy sounds EXACTLY like yours. I had some audible detonation I wanted corrected and provided a full page of detail on how I wanted the program adjusted. After 5 weeks of repeated calls, I received back someone else’s used chip (which btw was quite beat up), and worse yet, it had the exact same program label on it compared to the one I sent. A call the next morning netted them assuring me that they did make the changes I asked for. A test drive concluded they provided some of them, but the WBO2 showed the burn was fatter than ever (<10:1), and it detonated WORSE!. I had even asked for a specific ignition advance curve in my description, but the autotap revealed they didn't touch that portion of the program.
I wish you the best…. Joel
