well driving on highway yesterday I hear a loud pop from the FRONT of the truck, thought it was a plug but my gf turned toward me a saw my rear drivers side window shattered! yes my rear window just started falling apart? dont know what happened? nearest vehicle behind me was a box truck about a quarter mile back, two semi's in front of me in the left lane, I dont think its possible for a rock to kick up come through the drivers side window and hit it just above my left shoulder? that would be nearly impossible right? so the only other thing I can think of is the box truck shot at me with a beebee gun or something? but they where so far back and the noise sounded like it came from the front. unless this is a new lightning quirk, rear exploding window mod? anyway add this to my rear smashed in by the dumptruck, my melted ground effects from my sidepipes and my scraped front bumper and my truck is pretty messed up. I am going to try to get a one piece rear window, and along with the sir michaels roll pan the truck should come out the body shop looking great.,

 

wow, thats some BS. If a rock came in and hit it form the inside you be able to find the rock in your cab somehwere Im sure. BB guns cant get break a window if they were shooting forward at any speed really since the wind would blow it way off course once it was shot, not to mention kill its momentum. Thats about the weirdest thing I have heard, from all the other stuff that has happend to you I would say you have a curse on your truck or something, have you pissed off any Voodoo momas lately?

curse no, just some bad luck, being hit by some dumbass in a dumptruck with no insurance. the truck runs great though, knock on wood, the rear window is just weird, like it got hit by a piece of ceramic, thats all I can compare it to? maybe the body somehow twisted from the motor torque? but I was cruising @ 65 mph not under WOT.

 

I saw almost something similar about two weeks ago. I was driving behind a chevy fullsize when all of a sudden this car passing going the opposite direction, kicked up a rock and flung it just ahead of my truck. It bounced off his tonneau and nailed and broke the rear window.

I would hate know if someone was actually shooting at your truck though.

 

Thats really weird, im trying to think of what it could have been but nothings popping up. How did the glass look? Did it seem like it was hit with something?

The only time I heard of that happening was when a buddy of mine pulled up to a light and a kid with a load stereo pulled up beside him. My buddy rolled up his window. When the kid saw this, he really cranked it up and BANG his back window shattered.

 

well at first I thought it was a plug going because thats how it sounded, like a loud pop! or loud backfiring so I got off the gas and my girlfriend looked toward me and saw the glass shattered, completely webbed up, from there it just began to cave in, with pieces of glass falling in the cab, there was a hole about the size of a thumb above my left shoulder on the glass, I pulled off the highway went to a parking lot and pushed out the rest of the glass, then continued on to six flags not to let it ruin my day. the poping sound it made was loud, like it was under compression and then just gave out and exploded. really loud. I looked for rocks or beebees or even bullets inside the cab but found nothing, I'll look again when i clean it out good. I really don't care, just an excuse to do another cool mod, the solid rear window, It just freaking me out, I want to know what happened.

 

it was weird, we were cruising @ about 65mph in the slow lane, on 3 lane highway, light traffic, box truck about quarter mile back, I saw a camero with retarded exhaust go by in the leftmost lane, so I pulled to the middle lane behind the two semi's, with open trailers, as soon as I got over to the middle lane it happened, now that I think about it I wasn't going 65mph, I accelerated not at WOT to make the lane change and catch up to the camero. halfway into the lane bam! cracked shattered window.

 

I think if it was a rock or bb you would have noticed it when it came into the cab (unless of course it just hit the outside. It it was a bullet, there would be a second hole. Sorry to hear about it but like you said . . .mod time . It couldnt have been that the popping noise you heard was the glass actually breaking could it? Sometimes your ears can do weird things esp if your staying still.

 

if it was a BB it may have just hit it and bounced off the outside, the way it went the whole drivers side rear window spider webbed in a flash, with a very loud poping noise. then preceded to fall apart

 

Yeah, but it would be hard to hit your truck, and like you said you didnt have anyone behind you right? Theres no way a bb can even go a quarter mile i dont think, esp starting from 60 mph and definately not that accurate.

 

you havent ever noticed a vibration from that part of the cab before have you? I know that a good constant vibration could/would do something like that... only a few things can actually break glass, being hit hard, hard vibration, and sound vibrations...thats about it as far as I know
