Anyone ever mount an amp in the bed?

Im having a problem with the size of the amp I have. It is to big for under the seat. I want to put it in the bed. Besides making it more accessible to be stolen and possible causing an issue when having to haul anything, would there be an other negatives?

WATER,HEAT even in a covered bed there will be all the elements that produce condinsation, do you drive in the rain or snow or how about the summer how hot do you think it gets sitting in the sun for 8 hours while your at work and turned on for a jam session on the way home, unless the truck in a garage queen I wouldn't do it.

The amp dimensions are

9 5\8 Wide
15 3\4 Long
2 5\8 High

Truck isnt a daily driver and doesnt see snow. I could rig some quick disconnect wiring and set the amp in a bracket that is stable but easily removable. Under the passenger seat just doesnt cut it even if I cut the rug. Any ideas?

Where the heck are you gonna ground off in the bed of the truck. Amps are not suppose to be mounted in the engine bay nor is it good to mount them in the bed. You gotta consider the moisture still gonna get to it. Get you a tool box and mount in there if you want it in the bed of the truck. You can't mount it on the back wall of the truck cab.

I dont think so. If I put it between the subs, I lose the ability to put the armrest up which might not be that big of a deal. I'll have to think about that one. Ill have to look to see if it can go above.

It will fit under the passenger seat if you remove the jack.

I have one under mine that is 6.5 x 2 x 15.2 and I have plenty of room.

I think the only issue may be the height, but I think you should be ok.

Or put in on the hump in the middle. There is a lot more room than you may think.

im not really sure what the bottom of the thunderform looks like but if you are willing to do a little cutting, i think this woule be the best place for the amp(s)

Wouldnt the amp be able to be grounded to the tie down hooks? I realize that this wouldn't be practical but theoretically it would work right? If it does then I don't see a problem with building a "compartment" for the amp where it can be hidden and protected from the elements.

i dont no how much actual metal is connected to the frame on them

the best conductor would be the bolt for the bed

The tie hooks could work I guess. You need to build the enclosure where the amp would get plenty of air.
