Will This Plug Damage Cause Further Damage?

Stupid me, didn't check and see if my Denso 22's were the right plug for the increased boost I inflicted upon them. They weren't as it turned out and several of them have missing insulators. Question is, have I done damage beyond the plugs, and what can I do about it.

take it apart and find out, or say screw it and drive around without knowing

Like the Second Option Better, But

If a couple of seconds will crack them to sh$t, just wondering what happens to the porcelain once fully exposed to the dynamics of the cylinder. Hoping the porcelain is pulverized fo dust and safely expelled. Am I a little too optimistic?

Mark

P.S.-Probleminfected, geez you make it sound like taking it apart would be an afternoon of sheer delight, what are you doing tomorrow?

Don't sweat it Mark

It happen to mine @ a yr ago, it had @5k on it at the time
I made the same post, had the same concerns,
and was afraid something must have happen
to a valve or piston.

Been over a yr,
more than double that milage now,
better ET's than ever
AND PURRING LIKE A CAT 24/7

AND BTW
my prob was a clogged filter
no one needs colder than Denso IT-22's
(I have 14-16 lbs of boost) plus I run Nitrous
I'd say your problem is ELSEWHERE
NOT THE PLUGS

It's running lean
and it'll happen again (OR WORSE)
unless you find the problem ???

If anything, it probably made one hell of a nice flame thrower for a moment. Hows it running with the new plugs?

Rob

Thanks, thats just the info I was looking for (wow your plugs looked worse than mine). Still waiting on the 24's ****. Hope they are here in a couple of days. No one up here carries them (of course) and the weathers been great. I have been dying to get it out on the road. Brand new Trans Am in town. Love to see what 18#'s would do.

Thanks again,
Mark

Try some NGK BR7EF's. I think they are part # 3346. Advance auto parts has them for around $1.69 each.

I second that about those wheels easterland

I know it's easy for us to say, but I think I would just throw some new plugs in and drive that beast
For what its worth, I have been running the Denso 20's for 10k miles and it purrs.

Can't complain about the weather lately, that's for sure. There are alot of new Vettes running around Anchorage too. The dealer told me that they sold out all Vettes in ANchorage and Wasilla back in April when they were doing the 0% interest thing.... that and a few nice days. I hope all those new Vette owners won't be sorry in a few months. I will when the L gets put away for the winter. Anyway, how is that new blower working out? I heard that NCETRY was turning 560 horsepower and was killing them at the track.

If thay didn't bend a valve on the way out. I would say lucky. I know now cause I bent a valve. I was lucky many times over. My new NKG are a little tougher then the Denso's I was running. Your poss. alright as many as I have broken. Good luck!

What NGK's are you running? I am gonna make around 18# of boost and I would rather melt a tip than have the porcelain go for a trip through my engine.
