Raced a stock Mustang....

I guy in town just got a new Mustang GT and he wanted to have a run last night to see how close he could come. He told me he knew he was going to lose he just wanted to see if he could hang. So, we raced and I had him from the word go and ended up beating him 4-5 links in the quarter. My question to you guys is....I actually thought I would have had him worse with my mods. What do you think? Thanks for your help!

Well if it was a 99+ GT then he was probably running low 14s. If he is an awesome driver then he could pull off 13.8. This would require serious powershifting The 99+ is much faster when compared to the fox or early sn95s.

Well, His car is a 2003. Brand new, only about 2000 miles. I would think with my mods I should AT LEAST me running high 12's low 13's and wouldn't that be more than 4 links??

Cool

w/a 4# you should have pulled him pretty good.

When mine was bone stock I could eat em up (at the track) stock for stock. The closest stock "gt" based car was a bullit. He launched perfect and was beside me til the top of first gear. Then I steadly pulled him the rest of the way. I ran a 14.1x @ 99 to his 14.5x at 97

All the other stock or nearly stock 4.6 GTs that day (hot and humid summer day) were running 14.7s-14.9s.

BTW: The best 4.6GT 5/speed i've seen at my local track; Was a bone stock 2000 w/40k miles. It was an older guy who was laying down some base numbers before he started the mods. He ran a slew of 14.0s and one 13.98 @ 100 (55 degree spring day)

WOT

You know what....This might be a Bullit Mustang. Are they the one with the powder coated wheels? If so, this was a bullit. Yes, I beat him from start to finish and pulled pretty good. I just thought I should have one by more, and I just wanted your opinions.

A bullitt running 14.5? Someone needs some practice and maybe a better set of wheels.

A lot of premium GTs come with the bullitt wheels. It should say bullitt in chrome lettering in the back if it is.

You should be able to tell a Bullitt pretty easily. It would either be true blue, black or dark green. They don't have a rear spoiler, and have a polished gas tank filler cap. I believe they actually have the all polished 5 spoke rims, whereas the GT's have the gray powder coated ones.

My old 99 GT ran low 14's very consistently with some bolt ons, and dipped into the 13's once at the track. You should be able to pull away from him in 2nd and 3rd gear, since their trap speed is lower than yours.

The "Bullitt" wheels are now an option on all the new GT's, like somone said earlier they are now called the "premium" wheel.

If it's a brand new car, then it's not a bullitt, since they don't make them for '03.

I figure if he can drive with those minor mods it would be an even match...

One of my club members has a 2000 GT with just 3.73s, bassanni xpipe, cone filter and 2 chamber flows ...He ran a 13.8 at the track...He's a d@mn good driver though

MMFF managed a 13.59 out of the Bullit. I couldn't believe my eyes...
