Question explain once more what exactly the converter does and why would it make a gear whine

i dont want to beat a dead horse here i know that the converter acts like a "fluid clutch" and the theroy behind it but is there clutch materal inside?
what could be making the whine when it is in third and fourth?
why doesn't it do it in first or second?
and finaly would a slipping coverter have an effect on how the tranny starts off and shifts?

i need some real profesional help, i would have asked Mr. evans, but it seems he is harder to get ahold of than r kelly at a girl scout meeting!

any help is welcome

well the converter is kinda like two fans pointed at eachother with fluid in between. so as one spins, the other tends to as well, however they can move intependent of eachother.

Having it whine in 3rd and 4th could be because of the higher speed that it spins? Im not sure there.

Is your problem that your gettin a whine? Is it really only in 3rd and 4th? or is it above a certain speed? Easy way to test is run the puppy in 2nd for a bit.

no it just does it in 3rd and up, i jacked up the read and locked it in first, then second so on to reverse and it only did it in 3rd and 4th, when we first did it it sounded like something was rubbing against the converter, and i was told by others that they had the same problem and it was the converter, and the atf went from nice and pink to burned in less then two weeks however the gears seem to lock in good and firm, with the exception of first, first witt seem to slip just before it goes to second at wot and will chirp second when it fialy goes in.

Are you running a stock or high stall converter>??? If so who's converter is it>??? I know the Precisions are loud to begin with I hear. Sounds like a bad converter if you fluid is burnt hat fast. I would get that thing out of there before it wipes out your trans. Cause I damn well know that no aftermarket company is cause pay for your tranny if their converter wipes it out. It is really something I would need to hear to put an opinion on. -Mat-
