Best gas mileage

I have been curious since I bought my 03 about actual gas mileage. I had averaged 10 mpg around town and going to work. I drove to Kansas City from Oklahoma City this weekend and it took one tank of gas. The low fuel light didn't come on, and I got 335 miles on 20 gallons of gas. That seems to be 16.75 miles to the gallon. Is that what everyone else with a STOCK L gets on highway trips? BTW not much headwind to speak of either.

I usually average about 13mpg with some mid-high 12's running around town. Highway about 16mpg. Believe it or not I have gotten a little better gas mileage since I had the 4lb pulley installed a few months ago. I don't know how but I'm not complaining!

Just drove a 260 mile trip and got 16.5. Started in L.A. and drove to Big Bear Lake 6750 ft. elevation. Went 80 on the frwy and was stuck in traffic driving around the lake to watch the fireworks. I think that I get better milage with the chip, filter, t/b, and the k/b than I did stock. Skip

Mine is a 99 with 3.55s. The people that I know with 01s and up seem to get less mileage. Skip

My '03 with about 1,700 miles on it has just recently cracked 15 MPG in rural driving. I was getting about 14.4 when I first got it, and I have not been driving aggressively.

Cool

Now this is one area I don't understand too awfull much?

I do drive pretty easy most of the time. But try to get a bit-o-boost everyday. You know more quickly accelerating than everyone else around me.

With the mods in my sig i'm avging 16.75 as of late. The worst I got was 14.99 and the best was 18.8 out on the interstate.

I really do think that these trucks stop and go so effortlessly that people tend to drive them like a little econobox car. Fact is these things are porkers! Just lay off the brakes and let up off the throttle sooner.

best I got was 18.4 coming down from Mt. Shasta on the way up here with a ton of stuff in the bed. I think the best level I got was around 17.5mpg. Then again I do have a '99 and longer gears.
