Best Rear Window Solution for A Roll Bar
Best Rear Window Solution for A Roll Bar
OK,
So who's got the best solution for getting those rear bars through the window? Remove existing glass sections and then glue and/or screw Lexan sheet(s) to the remaining outer rear window frame?
Anyone get their existing glass laser cut and polished? This sound feasible?
Pictures and/or instructions would be appreciated.
(Yes, I did a search and scarily enough found I was in most of those posts too)
BTW, I think I got a trick set-up for a modified snuglid, if it works I'll post info, if not, I'll have a great 6 ft cutting board, and just have to buy a soft top.
THANK YOU ALL,
HAPPY 4TH WEEKEND

I done mine myself, first you got to get a rear slider from an 99back 150 or lightning, the older model windows had glued in glass with a plastic frame you can take a propane torch and a knife and cut the side glass panels off.The newer windows are molded in glass with a metal frame and the can't be removed. I used perceys speed glass which is a scratch proof lexan.Just use your old glass as pattern and cut it with a roto zip or jig saw file it smooth. I glued mine in with a urathane from a glass shop just be sure to use the primer also no need for screws or bolts.

BTW, thanks for that thread you posted a while back.
Douglas, only problems I can see with keeping the stock glass is, if it hole isn't big enough, the bars could possibly break the glass from the torque.
I'm going the Lexan route. And hell, I already have the soft cover!

If you look at the 2nd pic Rob posted of my truck, you can see what I did. The rear window is lexan, and I had the roll bar guy leave the hole faily tight to the rear bars.
I then went to the auto parts store and bought a piece of radiator hose, and cut it to fill the hole. I had to cut it to go around the bar, but the cut is on the bottom. I then pushed the hose into the hole and filled any remaining gap with clear silicone.
That was just ment to be a temp gasket, but it has been 4 months now, and it has never leaked, so I haven't messed with it.
