SVT vs. PVO

What do you guys think? Dodge PVO is offering performance packages in stages for the lonely SRT-4, which will retain the factory warranty.

Do you think this will force SVT to do the same thing?

Hell no! Too many SVT owners bleed Ford blue for that to make any difference. As long as the performance is there, many SVT owners will bend over for just about anything Ford chooses to do. I doubt PVO will influence anything but factory performance numbers from SVT. Anything beyond that and we're on our own.

I was talkin to a couple of srt-4 owners about these stages that dodge sells and to me it sounds like a pretty good concept. Performance parts all under warranty, actually thats a damn great concept! In reality I do wish SVT would come up with somethin like this so I can stop worrying about the warranty police nabbing me everytime I take my truck in for service. I don't really see it happening but it surely would be nice. And as I've said to a few dealerships, if you would sell, install, and warranty some aftermarket performance parts, I would deffinetly pay a little extra moola for them.

I doubt it. Dodge has pretty much always been friendly to the mod world. You could order their Mopar performance parts from a dealer, have them install it, and it wouldn't affect the warranty at all. Dodge knows their place in the automotive world, they won't be #1, so they're just make good with their customers. Ford is a cost-based company that is out for the al-ighty ollar (daily Simpsons reference), so they'll keep it like it is and continue to try and void warranties.

One thing I can say is that I don't mind the extra competition one bit. If the SRT-10 is what it takes for SVT to step up to the plate even more with the Gen 3 Lightning, then I'm all for it.

Ford does offer it AT SOME DEALERS
Brothers from here have Ford bought Uppers and Filters.
I told you when I bought my Cobra, they offered me a PERFORMANCE PACKAGE.
$1800.00 I believe it was, Gears, Shifter, Air Filter, Exhuast.
I don't remember if it included a Chip, I didn't buy it ?
But it was offered from the dealer and would have been wrrnty'd.
Don't know if they'll ever offer lower pulleys and Juice,
but any dealer wrrnyt'd Hi-Perf Part would be nice.

We use to have the best Hi- Perf Ford Dealership here,
In House Speed Shop and everything

But like everything else, Corp America replaced the knowledgeable people with a-holes and then Ford started voiding wrrnty's left and right for Performance add on's

I hope Ford wakes up soon, or it may just be a used Z06 next time for me instead of the Cobra I planned on. I have this big Chevy Dealership I pass 4 times a day, and I got to say staring at a line up of Z-06's is starting to get to me. (IN A GOOD WAY)
I can never afford a new one, but I'm sure I can find a used one for a do-able price if I look long enough

I have a "performance" dealer, too!

The dealer, not ford, is standing by their sold/installed parts! They did give some indication that if push came to shove Ford could void warranty! Also, if you were out-ot-f-town and had to go to another dealer, you'd be sc--wed! Glad to hear if PVO will do this like TRD (Toyota) and Nismo (Nissan) will. A Smart manufacturer would realize that many want to customize performance and appearance of vehicle, so why not take as big a piece of that aftermarket pie as possible on high profit parts/installs? Doing a "safe" install would eliminate most extra warranty claims, too! Also, some manufacturers of perofrmance products are partnering with vehicle manufacturers, so they don't get left out.

And that's part of the problem. Who are you gonna find to do that? Ford would probably want to send them to some sort of school to learn how to do that, which of course would cost extra money.

I agree though that dealerships and Ford should see the light that TONS of people want to modify their cars and their would be a potentially huge market they could tap into if they would just sell the parts and warranty them.

Cool

Hum... Just think for a minute.... What if a company (Ford) actually gave the **PAYING** customer something close to what they actually wanted on an "aftermarket" basis?

WOW! There's and idea worth considering...
And..and.. what would happen if those customers actually liked returning to their local dealer (with cash in hand)? And... what if we did'nt dread it? And... what if us customers spent even more money more often with them cause we'd know it would be parts that are generally safe and designed to fit to begin with?...

Guy's I think were onto something BIG here guys!!!? Maybe we should tell them....

SLAP

Oh sorry, was having a dream.. I'm awake and back to reality now.

Well just subcribing to see where this one goes but here is a thought, Ford isnt going to increase warranty claims on a motor that already lets go in stock form. The 03 Cobra on the other hand is a different story. If Ford does get into the aftermarket, they wont offer as much power as the private company. Ford has a vested interest(they fix your truck when it blows) so most of you guys still wont use the Ford aftermarket parts. Then when our trucks do blow, you scream that you have the same mods dealer sells. It really is a lose lose situation for Ford, unless the sell our vehicles with bullit proof motors, not the motor built to barely handle the power level from factory.

I was just thinking that possibly, Ford will try to challenge PVO in the future. We know theres no worries for a 03 Cobra, thats for sure. Hell, they could offer a reflashed pcm, which many think doesnt work, pulley, belt, exhaust, etc in a package and warranty it. Wouldnt be hard.

Then, the could build that bullet proof Focus Turbo and go after the Neon.

Once the Gen3 L hits, the could offer the same.
