Electric fan on/off, no temp sender

I don't have the temp sender hooked up to my electic fan yet, but the fan (while switch is in the ON position) still decides when it goes off and comes back on again. Is there a timer involved? Or does it sound like there is an error in the installation.

If you just have a default ON/OFF switch wired for the e-fan, the fan should NOT go off with the switch in the ON position....ever. I had this same setup before I had a temp sender installed and just basically ran the fan on all the time via switch.

I would double-check my installation and keep in eye on your engine temp when you drive.

And a temp sender is always recommended just to save your e-fan from spinning *all* the time. Painless Wiring has one for 40-45 bucks I believe.

Well, the switch is definately in the ON position, and the fan definately turned off, and then turned back on later, and definately no temp sensor. I *do* have the AC clutch option, but I did not turn the AC on.

Hmmm again I would double-check the wiring. I don't use the AC clutch...just a temp sender. Before the temp sender was installed, my e-fan ran constantly via switch...there was no doubt about this.

well... it doesn't matter now! in my checking i shorted the 2 contacts of the breaker together and *poof*, the breaker is dead. then, in checking the other one, with the battery disconnected, crunch, post stripped off the other breaker. 2 new breakers needed, and a new temp sender (i lost the 1st one i ordered).
