Blower Maintenance

I'm getting ready to pull my blower off and change the oil in it. I also wanted to clean the inside and check the intercooler fins. I remember there being a couple of threads before but I haven't been able to find them. I wanted to know how do I get the oil out? Do I just pull the blower off and unscrew the plug on the front and drain it out that way? What oil should I use and where should I get it? How far do I fill it? Also, when I reinstall what are the torque specs and sequences for the blower to the lower intake plenum and the upper intake plenum to the blower? I'm going to be replacing the upper intake plenum with a ported one. Anyways info would be great. Thanks!

Not much info for you, but I think the blower fluid can be purchased far cheaper from a Chevy dealer. After all Eaton has their stuff on a few Pontiacs.

If you are taking the blower off anyway, then yeah, just tip it over and empty it that way. You don't have to take the blower off to drain it, you can use like a turkey baister with a hose attached to it.

As mentioned before, buy the oil at a GM dealer. Don't pay more than $6-7/bottle.

To clean intercooler use a few cans of STP Carb Cleaner, works great.

Cool, so what type of fluid is it? Just GM supercharger lube? Hilander, when you put JDM's spacer on did you torque the bolts down to any specific number? Also, anyone know what to torque the lower intake plenum bolts to?

The intake bolts torque to 20 ft. lb. so i torqued my supercharger the same. The intake also started with a 2 ft. lb first then the 20 ft lb. Start torqueing from the front. Not the first set of bolts but the second left to right then the front set last. Thats the way I did mine. No problems with 16 lbs. of boost on a daily driver.
