Question Has anyone ever had problems with their stock torque converter?

i have had some noises that are comming from the trany that sound like gear whine, they only come in 3rd & 4th gear and sometimes when im starting off it seems the converter slips a little and at about 12-1500 rpm will drop into first???
any way im thinking now it is the converter, and if it is what should i do? new trany, stall, stall with valve body ect... any info welcome
thank's

I think I have a similar problem, except when the truck is in gear I hear the whine. It becomes a higher pitch the faster I go...

I would go with a 2400 stall converter and yes definatly get a valve body !

Good luck !
