noew 03 performance question_breaking in

hey all quick question. This is my first completely new vehicle. i have been doing what most have said and some what baby it. well of course i have gotten on it a little bit. however, it only has 170 miles on it, and comparing it to my 01 L i jsut got rid of, it had 33K on it, but the 01 seems like it would blow the 03 away, is that just me or part of the break in period of the engine and it being sluggish. Almost like it is not downshifting when you punch it or no power. any suggestions. Thanks alot all.

I drove it hard straight from the dealership. No WOT from one stoplight to another, but I got on it plenty of times. Switched to Mobil 1 full synth at 3000 miles and she runs like a champ now *KNOCK ON WOOD*

My 02 was basically the same way....it loosened up after a a few thousand miles. Also, the computer needs to "learn" so it may drive a bit strange at first.

My 02 would not spin the tires at all when new and now it rips em, hehe. I also went to mobil 1 at 3K...no running problems at all......yet

my truck didnt' seem too powerful from the showroom floor but as i drove the truck it seemed to pick up power...(maybe because of the pulley, filter and exhaust)

New owner, I feel your pain. I just bought my '03 she has 250 miles on her. I am soooooo impatient. She brakes now, if I absolutely stomp on her, but thats only due to the quick mods I am undergoing.

I was told to let her break in and take it easy for the first 500.

I test drove an '02 that wouldn't hold the road, sold me, so I have faith!

Give it time. Mine just crossed 1900 miles and it seems to get stronger the more I drive it. My '01 did 13.6 in the 1/4 stock @ 50 degrees with 6000 miles on it. The '03 did 13.75 @ 1200 miles and 62 degrees. I think my new L will be stronger than the 01 *Knock On Wood*!
