Post e-fan question

Is anyone running an e-fan along with some stereo/sub/amp mods ? I'm considering the e-fan, but I'm just a little concerned about a really hot day, stuck in traffic - e-fan + AC + stereo ( I only have a sub & Amp ). Granted I'm not going to be running the amp full throttle, but anyone have any thoughts ?

I know there are plenty here with the E-fan, just wondering how 'hard' the Lightning electrical system can be taxed without compromising reliability...

Thanks !

You'll be fine. Our stock alternators can handle it...just remember to use the correct/adequate amp fuses with the efan.

cyntaxx said it best........make sure you wire it properly and everything will be OK.

Just for S&G I sat in traffic at a cruise night with AC/headlights/foglights/radio/IC fans/main fan/powercooler all running............not 1 problem.

It really depends on how much power you are pushing with your amplifiers of your stereo. As long as your stereo isn't too serious, I think you may be okay.

I will seriously consider a larger alternator when I get my e-fan in as I am running very respectable power for my stereo. I figure I'll run my stocker into the ground with the expectations of having to buy a new one. We'll see. I found a formula for figuring out how much draw you were puting on your alternator once, and I came up with around 300 for my system as it sits. That is with no e-fan. I really do not know the acuracy of the formula at all, but it was interesting to see.

i've got a little stereo and the JDM e-fan..

1200watts @ 2ohm mono going to the solobaric 12's..
yes the lights get dim.. LOL

i'm going to go to a local alternator/starter shop & have them rebuild my stock alternator so that it puts out more amps.. may try to get the voltage turned up a bit as well..

the local place can rebuild it for less than that.. plus i don't have to buy another..

$235 is a lot.. if the place in town will do it for around $100, i'll get it done there.

Electric fan can wear your alternator out if the wires are not thick enough.
I know as my harness melted from to much current passing thru to small of a wire. Just make sure whatever fan you buy that it comes with a quality wire harness. A alternator upgrade in my truck made a huge difference.

I've got enough "light dimming" on my '91 Exploder - thankyouverymuch and that's stock ...

That sounds like enough input to make a judgment that the truck can handle it... Thanks for all the input...

and, btw

I'm 'over the ton' - 100 posts !
