Question For Black L Owners
My recommendation would be:
1) Wash with Dawn dish soap. This removes all of the old wax.
2) Get Mothers Clay Bar at a local autoparts store and follow the directions.
3) Purchase Mequiars Swirl Remover and follow directions.
4) Purchase Meguiars New Car Glaze and follow the directions
5) Final step is to use Meguiars Liquid Yellow wax, and of course follow the directions.
Make sure to use clean polishing pads for each step and use micro fiber towels or diapers to take the polish and wax off. Keep using new polishing pads for each step. If you follow all of the directions, you should end up with a nice looking vehicle. Good luck.

How much work do you want to put into is this question...
First, go buy a Portal Cable buffer, then the foam pads.
Meguairs Swirl Mark remover 2.0 will do the job.
If you are truely serious about getting the paint flawless, email me and ill give you the recipe. Ive posted this several times over the last 2 months as well. BTW, Youre looking at 2 full days of working on it and a total of $400 in product/equipment.

Thanks for the good info. I will present these options to her and let her decide how much effort she is willing to put into it.

Black is Beautiful Baby
But I think I go Red, White, or Blue next time
The Mothers Clay Bar and Swirl Remover is the Move Mark
Mine has it's marks, but this is 1-1/2 yrs of NY Driving 24/7 winter spring summer and fall with no garage
Pic taken maybe 2 weeks ago after a day with Mothers
It Truly Makes the world of difference,
looks like the day I brought it home

CAN YOU SAY RUNNING RICH BABY
I have had a number of black vehicles and tried many a product. For a quick fix (you need to do this once every three months if your L is a daily driver) I have found awesome results with:
Meguiar's
Swirl remover and then a coat of show car glaze - this takes the spider webbing out and leaves a very wet finish. I can't tell you how many people ask me what products I use.
The only draw back is either product is not a wax and they will wear off quickly, but it looks damn fine when you go through this process and it is very easy to apply - your daughter will like that, if she is the one doing the work?

I use a Porter Cable with Yellow Foam Pads.
Once i clay bar it, i break out the Swirl Mark Remover. After ive done the entire truck, i use the Pinnacle Cleaning Lotion and buff that in until it breaks down. From there, i get the Mothers Sealer/Glaze to lock in the finish. Top with 2 coats of Pinnacle Souveran. Each month i add one coat of the Mother Glaze and Souveran Wax.
End result...
