Flip Chip Question
Flip Chip Question
I have a superchip flipchip in my truck, it programed with a warm weather/cold weather program, when I have it set on the cold weather side my truck runs very strong, will chirp the tires and pulls like a mother F`er, when I change over to side 2 of the chip,
(performance side) my truck feels like it looses power, it doesn`t pull as hard and won`t chirp the tires, I know side 2 is the performance side because if the weather gets below 75 degrees I get detonation, change back to side 1 and everything is fine, no more detonation, I called the tuner and told them what was going on, they said all they do on the performance side is add a little more timing, they also said that I should try some race gas and it should help, does this sound right?, and will some race gas make that much difference?.

Was the program burned for race gas only? If you asked for an agressive street program, that is one thing. A strictly race program requiring race fuel is another. If you were looking for the former, and now are detonating when temps drop below 75 degrees, tell your tuner to pull back some timing and make it less agressive.
When I asked my tuner about my program they said the performance side should be used in 80 degree weather and up, is that an agressive street program?, I should have asked them what the timing is set at on each program, there the ones that recomended I try some race gas, the performance side of my chip wasn`t programed for race gas only, so, is this an agressive street program?.

If your "agressive street program" requires race gas, it's a race program. Unless that's what you asked for, I'd get a reburn and hopefully they'll do it right.

I was thinking of trying some race gas just to see if it makes a difference, ive never used race gas before, will I really notice a difference running race gas, is 4.19 a gallon about right?, or is that high?.
