Researching Water Injection
Researching Water Injection
any one running a water/alchol injection ? there is some nice kits out there like aquamist, and the cheaper snow version.im gonna throw some info i found out just to get some feedback from you all. i guess all the wrc cars use aquamist or a water injection system too.
on a roots type supercharger water injection will seal the rotors together better, and increases the mass air flow, since you're cooling the intake charge before it gets compressed.
35. We shall see the intercooling properties of water injection.
Water temperature is 25°C and the compressor exit temperature is 124°C and Water flow rate of 250cc per minute. In the region we are working in the partial pressure of water vapour in the mixture is very low. We can assume that the enthalpy is a function of temperature alone within reasonable accuracy (e.g. for 250g /min of water and 8.64Kg/min of air, the partial pressure of water in about 0.06 bar). Consequently the final temperature is an inverse linear function of water proportional as nearest makes no difference. The calculation and results:
At 200cc/min: 66.09°C
At 250cc/min: 50.88°C
At 300cc/min: 36.27°C
So there we are, we have proved our point, water is just as effective as an intercooler. We decided to calculate a few more water flow rates so that a chart can be plotted, useful for visual prediction. Even at a modest flow rate of 200cc per minute, water is a better cooler than a 50% efficient intercooler by a long way. Notice at 350cc/minute of water, the final temperature dropped below the ambient of 25°C !!! there just isn't a 110% efficiency intercooler around yet ...
but what happens when the water injection picks up all that dried up oil **** caked on your innercooler , and dumps that into the combustion chamber too !
so has any one tried this out ?

Detailed Description
Save time and money hunting down parts. Get a complete kit that is tested and proven!
This kit includes the following:
* High pressure 60 or 100psi diaphragm pump with viton valves, ideal for corrosive liquids.
* Easy install Injector nozzle - pre-assembled!
* 8ft (standard) or 20ft (trunk option) High Pressure Hose
* High current relay switch
* Choice of 1-10 or 2-30 psi Pressure switch for boost activation
* Industrial grade electric block-off solenoid - prevents water/alky in lines from being drawn in while not in boost.
* 10ft (standard) or 20ft (trunk) - 10 guage copper wire, for pump
* 20ft of 18 guage copper wire - for other electrical
* Various crimp terminals for wire hookups
* Fuse assembly
* Easy to follow instructions
Requires simple tools for installation -
* 1/4NPT tap and drill
* crimp, cut and strip wire tool
* teflon tape or pipe dope
* adjustable wrench
* flat blade screwdriver
* Washer fluid reservoir ortap into existing tank.
If doing an under hood pump install, utilizing the existing washer fluid reservoir makes installation simplified. The advantage of a trunk mounted pump/res install is cooler fluid temps. A nice reservoir is available at http://shop.store.yahoo.com/nos-mopa...winwasres.html or use a portable gas tank. The 1 or 2 quart containers that come with some competitor models are far too small. Our observation is a minimum of 1-2 gallons for our own driving with 500hp.
Some other kits do not provide a water solenoid. As a result, water/alcohol from the bottle can be sucked in to the engine under idle/cruising which is not recommended! A reservoir is not provided since there is no one size fits all. A 1+ gallon container is recommended.
For customers placing an order, you may request details for obtaining a low cost flowmeter setup which will provide a failsafe mechanism. Tank floats will inform of low fluid levels but does not guarantee if a fuse is blown, etc.!
Now available HOT ITEM!! Variable Injection control module. Takes 0 to 5v dc input such as throttle position, MAF, MAP sensor. One dial allows you to select the spray on point. Another dial adjusts the injector flow relative to the sensor output. This will reduce water/alcohol usage as well provide it at a rate to match your air and fuel intake needs. This could also eliminate the need for a FMU such used on ATI,Vortech, etc kits. If you are nearing the limit of your injectors or fuel supply, this may be the solution to your problem. Why add 93 octane gasoline when you can use much higher octane alcohol, on demand?
