So do I have to....
So, I've got this chunk of money burning a hole in my pocket, and I had decided on doing the Electric Fan/waterpump, traction bars, and a SB T/B. However I'm exceedingly impressed with how well the KB performs on our trucks. If I was to screw it and get the KB, how safe is it to run say 13#'s of boost on the street without a blown motor? Do I have to build the motor up to deal with the power increase? i was thinking I would run 13#'s on the street, and about 15#'s at the track. I would obviously have it dyno tuned and test and a chip burned for the right specifications (weather and BAD CA gas) What do you guys think. If nothing else I think the efan/waterpump and tractions bars are a no brainer for my next mod, but I'm feeling a KB in my near future.
I think if your run the KB at sane boost levels, your motor will be fine for a while. However, I'd always keep a little fund going for a built motor just in case you need it or when you want to really turn up the boost. I would run 12-13 #s on the street but 15# at the track may be pushing it depending on how often you go. JMO.
