Cool Best day at the track

I don't know if I will ever get this Big A$$ed Grin off my face.

My friend who works for Miller Brewing called me the other day and asked me what I was doing friday. Well he didn't have to ask me twice, this is something I have wanted to do for a long time.

Well here is what I did today,

Since the event was sponcered by Miller brewing the first 2 pics were taken infront of the Miller car, even though I drove #43

Talking

Here I am getting ready to get into my car

Here I am on the track following my instructor

Man I will tell you if you ever get a chance to do the Richard Petty experience, it is something you shouldn't pass up. This weekend it is being held at the 1 mile New Hampshire International Speedway.

My best lap was a 112.63 average, I was the 3rd fastest and the fastest first time racer in our group of 32 drivers. I was very happy with my times and to be 3rd fasted in a group that had at least 13 people who have done this event at least once before.

I even beet my friend who had done this twice before. They tell you to stay 3 car lenghts behind your instructors car, and he will go as fast as the person they are pacing are able to run. Afterwards I talked to him and he said he was impressed how quickly I picked this up.

I think I may have to hang up the 1/4 mile shoes, and start training for NASCAR.

What a awesome day, it is something I will never forget.

Looks familiar

heres how I spent my Sunday last weekend.

Thats my car crossing the finish line. I have in car camera on VHS that I need to get digitized. I got the chance to pass 4 or 5 cars on the high banks at Texas Motor Speedway. I used to make fun of Jeff Gordon and his buddies. Not any more.

They say a good driver can get the car going 150 down the back stretch before he has to let up for the corner. No speedo so I have no idea how fast I was going.

I did the Richard Petty school in Orlando, it was fun but the track was too short. I hear the Daytona school is bada$$.

Don,

Looks like you had a blast.

I have done that twice already at Pocono.

It is great there because of the Long frontstretch. The instuctor said based on my RPM and times . I was going 175 mph down the frontstretch and averaged 145 m.p.h. a lap.

I also did it both times for FREE

Way to go, big guy! Right now I'm watching the qualifying from Sonoma on Speed Channel. Just imagine how much fun it would be to take your badazz truck out on a track like that. Once the road course bug bites you drag racing becomes a flash in the pan by comparison.
