ram air duct screen?
ram air duct screen?
what are you guys using to keep chit out of your ram air box? I'm tired of collecting bugs, styrofoam peanuts, cigarette buts, sticks, large sand granules, etc. in my ram air setup.
There has to some kind of material like pantyhose that will stretch over the ram duct and still allow it to work but not tear as easily as pantyhose.
Any ideas?

A suggestion:
Get some black "fiberglass" screen material...you could try
doubling the thickness...mount it "tauntly"...dont know how strong it would be though...but might look fine and work.

hey
OK this might sound weird but listen:
In my pooll for our automatic sweeper I use a old panty hose as the filter.
NOW:
go buy some black ones, and stretch it over the opening and fasten it somehow.
RUbberband, tape, something.
Check it periodically, and when it fails, just cut another pice and put it on there.
Depending on the size panty hose you buy, one pair could last a life time.

I created a screen for my JLP ram air scoop a couple of months ago. I too was not happy with weird debris ending up in the filter box. I went to Home Depot and bought a heating/air conditioning filter kit called "the Web". I trimmed out two identically sized sections of the black plastic webbing material and then sandwiched the filter material between them. Then I simply wire tied the two sections together and took a dremel and cut 4 slotted holes in the outer edges of the scoop and wire tied the screen to the front of the scoop. Bam!!! No more debris and I still ran a 11.84 @ Cecil Dragway which means I don't think I lost any boost with the flilter screen installed, worked for me, John H.

The metal screen material used in screens in older windows i am sure they sell it at lowes or home Depot. might work.
