Expy console install question
Expy console install question
OK, I finally got my hands on a Ford Expedition console with many thanks to Mark @ LFP. My problem is right now my console looks like it is floating in air by about 3/4" in the front. I'm thinking I have the brackets on wrong or something. Can anyone help out here? Are the brackets supposed to bolt directly to the metal floor and then cutout the carpet around that area or bolt them on top of the carpet? If someone could possibly snap a closeup picture of the bottom/front of the console I would really appreciate it.
Thanks everyone.

HI!... I had the same problem when I installed my EXPEDITION console in my F-150. All I did was take two brand new shop rags and fold them nicely. I then inserted them carefuly up under the carpet padding in the location where the console left a gap. Then I bolted down the console over top of the "PUFFED" up carpet are and it fits perfect filling the gap. Here's a pic of mine. Not bad for $75.00(CAN) eh?

I had a simular problem. Mine was even worse as I replaced the carpet with balck carpet and it did not have the same backing that the factory carpet had. I just ended up buying some carpet pad at Home Depot for like $2 a square yard and cut it to fit. Put as much in there as you feel is needed. Also, like stated before, you should cut the carpet around the brackets.
Here is a picture of the carpet pad I used.

Cool thanks for the tip and pics zbornac and everyone. I will do that when I yank the carpet next time. I will post picks later this week just as soon as I get the remaining pieces for my console. I also go my new DVD/CD/MP3/TV installed this weekend with the custom flush mount
. It promises to be sweet.
Zbornac,
one more question, what did you use for the covering on the center console lid? I'm already no real hip on the stitched leather cover and was thinking about either the suede or the black leather that is on the seats. Just curious what you used and where you got it.
Thanks again,
