I have a question for the guys who know about flow and stuff. I currently have the heater core, stock lower heat exchanger, JDM heat exchanger and the heat exchanger located in the lower intake manifold. I measured the flow at about 3 gallons(680l/h) per minute so that means that the pressure is around .4 bar and means the pump is using about 5.5 amps to run. I could get the other bosch pump which would pump around 1100 l/h at .4bar at only 4 amps. Did I figure that out right? If the flow is higher that would mean at WOT when the temps really rise quickly (300+ degrees after the supercharger) the after lower intake heat exchanger temps would be lower than if a slower flow occured?

Thanks Easter,

I am the one who is looking. I have the info on the Jabsco and the Johnson pumps.

As you say, these two pumps lack a little flow as compared to the stock "L" (Bosch) pump.

The real hangup here is that as a Bosch dealer, I have tried to buy both the stock and the larger Bosch units but they tell me that they are not imported. Obviously Ford brings them in so they are only available from the dealer at something like $238.00.

It's not so much the $$ but if a slightly higher flow rate is beneficial and not detrimental, I would prefer to go bigger. However, there is an optimum flow rate where faster flow actually reduces the heat transfer. I just don't know where we are.

Easter,

Your numbers look correct to me. Now, the question is, with a flow rate increase of almost 50%, will we be actually reducing the heat transfer? We need someone who has "been there, done that".

There is also the availability problem. Do you have a source that I don't know about?

If someone could find an overseas dealer you can contact them directly and have them ship.

Hmmmm, overseas dealer. Why didn't I think of that?

I have a number of overseas connections in the Ferrari parts world. Ferrari uses Bosch. Maybe.............

I'll send a couple of e-mails.

I'd buy the big bosch pump if I can get it at a decent price. I think the higher flow given the bigger resistance I have in my system would help and not hurt. Especially when I go WOT and the after lower intake heat exchanger temps rise quickly.

Well, the plot thickens.

I was born and raised in London. I have a cousin who is a car nut also who has helped me out in the past.

I will e-mail him with the info and see what he can do for us.

Received a reply from the UK. By the time he buys it, pays the VAT (sales tax) and ships it to me, I would only save about $10.00. Not worth it for the trouble.

I'm bringing this thread back to life.

I have a source for the stock "L" pump (Bosch #0 392 022 002) that will allow me to sell them for $205.00, plus shipping, as opposed to $240 from your dealer.

Unfortunately, I am told the slightly larger #0 392 022 003 is no longer available.

Any takers on the stock one?
