Your Nomination for the most assinine/ridiculous/useless Mod
OK, so maybe I don't get out enough, but some of this junk I'm seeing lately as "accessories" is a complete waste.
While glancing through the Sunday paper's local auto parts supplement, I saw some two-piece wheel covers that (apparently) keep on spinning after the vehicle comes to a stop. Man, I broke out laughing!!! Who would buy this crap (and who would put it on a vehicle they owned)? I mean, I thought the "Tireflies" were pretty lame, but the hubcaps take the cake.
So...your nomination for the most ridiculous/stupid/lame/laughable/tasteless mod??????? Pictures get extra points.

Most seem to think the "plasma booster" is the most laughable/useless mod because the lightning community can't seem to find any plasma worth boosting in our trucks, but thats just what they tell me...

This is from the Kenne Bell website...FAQ:
What is the most ridiculous aftermarket product? Hands down, it's the "little intake fans" and the "throttle body spacers" with the bore grooves. Right there on the list has to be those "underhood exposed filters" that suck in 200° underhood air instead of ambient (70°-100° air from the fenderwell). 10° air temp rise is -1% HP. That's how dynos are calibrated for temperature changes. Does anyone really believe that all those OEM manufacturers designed expensive plastic inlet systems - for the last 20 years - that pull cool air from the fenderwell, hood or grill because they didn't have anything else to spend their money on? Then there's those "factory calibrated" mass air meters that do not use a chip or re-calibrated processor with oversize injectors. They unwittingly reduce the voltage signal to the mass air meter to compensate for the larger injectors at WOT but they neglect all the driveability issues. The result is over advancing timing, lean mixtures, detonation, surging, bucking etc.
I find some of their picks interesting but I don't know if I agree with all of them.

Well those hubcaps are to simulate spinner wheels (really expensive and shiny). Not my taste at all, but they look better than the hubcaps!
My favorite is still in the hubcap family: It was a snap in hub-back to keep the brake dust off of your wheels!

That open air filter is a good one!
But I also tried this mod...and it did nothing for me in terms of blinker performance.

yup
those lights are retarded. The cops around here are handing out 300 dollar tickets for "forward blue lights" which is only allowed on emergency vehicles.....just about put half these ricers in the poorhouse!!!
I've got to disagree with the open filter. I have an open filter and get 3-5degrees below ambient on the freeway. I'll bet my air entering the intake is lower than many others on this board. Besides a few who keep track most have no idea how hot the air is entering the engine.
I agree...
I'll have to agree with easterisland....I built a custom intake for my truck. Pipe, K&N 8" cone, etc, and I have measured the temps at the intake before and after....and it's actually about 8 degrees cooler. Hell, after a 30 mile highway run I popped the hood, and the pipe was COLD TO THE TOUCH.
Next step is to insulate the pipe - good use of a header wrap kit (thank God for ceramic coated headers).
Take a look at the Kenne Bell Hemi Ram 2500:
He went to all the trouble to get 500+ HP out of the Hemi, then he put 26" Godawful freight train wheels on it.....
