Well I did it....

I swapped out my 2003 Lightning front / rear shocks and leaf springs with the 2002 Lightning front / rear shocks and leaf springs. To clear up a mis-conception...... the '03's leaf springs DO NOT have an extra leaf. They both have the same amount of leafs. The difference is in the width of the leaf's and in the tension.

Let me say the difference is like night and day. My L rides alot smoother and is more comfortable. I can see why all of the '99-'02 L people love the way thier trucks ride. The '03's suspension sucks big time. I don't know what SVT was thinking when they put this set up together. I could care less about increased payload. The only hauling i'm going to be doing in my L is hauling ***.

Smart move.

glad it worked out.

I know I almost thought about trading my 01 in for the extra payload

Unhappy

Me being a part of the OEM realm, I can tell you they will have a 100 "very good" reasons why something like this *needs* to be done. But at the end of the day it's NOT what the customer who ****PAYS**** for the truck wants to begin with!

Morons!

I have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

As far as Rob03 goes, what ever floats your boat man. Personally although I'm happy for you I think you are a little off. I've ridin in a '02 and it was nice. The '03's ride is great and in my opinion I wouldn't change a thing from now on. I've owned a number of performance cars and it is nice when a factory can get a good match between shocks and springs. Anyhow what ever makes you happy.

First let me say,
I DON'T LIKE YOUR SCREEN NAME
Everytime I see it, I think it's me, it's very confussing

I got to agree with you Rob, ( Jesus you even have the same first name as me, what are you trying to prove ??? ) why they put those 03's so far up in the air is beyond me. And as for ALL the Mfg's Regular Truck line up, Do you really need 3ft space in the wheel well ??? Cause they sure as Hell all look stupid like that.

Smart Mod and Smart move Rob, I'm glad it worked out I even think the regular 99-02 L suspension's could be a tiny bit softer and still give great performance and handling.

I think people use the truck for alot of different things.

For instance, I am Glad for the payload increase as I actually use my Truck as a Truck.

I've seen 99-02s haul just as much stuff as you and tow boats, cars, even Gen 1 Lightnings.

Nice turbo TA btw....those are sweet cars!

My stock 01 supsension does fine pulling and hauling stuff in the bed. I even have a 2inch rear drop.

I agree 100%, and have even stated that it should be even more like the Roush Racing suspension. They went the wrong way.

The difference between the 03 to 02 suspension is the same difference between the 02 and the Roush suspension. Way better.

Of course I also think that the 3 foot tires to wheels looks gay. It looks like a 4wd L. Anybody going mudding with their L with 35x12.50x15's yet?
