Where's a good place to tap for an ignition wire?
Where's a good place to tap for an ignition wire?
I know it's been covered before but I'll admit it I'm lazy. Haven't finished my first cup yet. Anyhow I was installing my hands free kit for the cell and would like to tap into the ignition somewhere. Any ideas? Thanks

Get your handbook that should be in your glove compartment to figure out which fuse it is or it may be on the fuse block cover also.
There is also a good ground on the kick panel above the fuse panel.

In regard to cell phones, seems like I end up with a new one very year or two. I found it best not to cut into virgin factory wiring for such an item. I have always just connected the ground of the item to a bolt under the dash and then find a fuse that goes to an accessory of the vehicle that goes on and off with the ignition key. I pull the fuse protecting that accessory and wrap the hot wire of the item I'm installing to a leg of the fuse and then just plug it back in. Be sure you have attached the ground firmly first as otherwise the item you are installing will seem to not be getting current from the fuse hook up you are doing. I personally would do no more then one of these hookups as who wants a bunch of wires coming from ones fuse panel.. One is no bigge and actually something you see done very often. There is a lot to be said for not cutting into a virgin factory wiring harness.... especially if that item you are installing will undoubtedly be yanked and replaced in a month/year or so. By the way, many people that have company cars or rentals attach there cellphones, radar detector like this versus using the cigarette lighter.
Hey, what did you ever do about your vibration. I would have lost a 1/2 inch of that lowering and been done with the vibration versus screwing with the thing.... I mean for a 1/2"...
p.s. I also have an '03 Shadow Gray L. Have you considered a billet fuel door. A billet door (not painted) looks great with the Shadow Gray. Would be interested in talking to you. If you care to email me I would be able to reply to you via email.
