drop in filter, paper filter, or intake kit

I was checking out the psp fastair kit, and similar setups and I m wondering... I live in a very dry dusty desert, with highway cunstruction that I drive through daily, which equals driving through dust storms, etc

I just bought my L, it is quite stock and I am not yet ready to do any mods beyond exhaust and intake, I want to get to know it and make sure she's solid

so my question is regarding this dust, am I risking blowing dust into the intake with a high flow intake ? should I stick with paper filters or what? I'm not looking for huge gains of course, I'd just like a little more kick in the pants at WOT and a louder suckin' sound under the hood

I would think that a cone filter with outer sock would be ideal for you. You can wash off the outer sock in minutes.

Cool

Yeah I'd say either stay stock or get the outter wear thing over a conical aftermarket unit.

BTW: Since you don't have any added boost; You could just stay with the stock box and do what I did for a while. I cut two large holes in the bottom of my box and put duct tape over them for daily use. When at the track I'd removed the snorkle, duct tape and throw in a K&N panel. That added some of the sound your seeking and also gained me a solid 0.1 improvement in ET and 1.5 mph in the 1/4 mile. (stock boost)
